I'm Coach Ramses
I am Ramses, I’m a high level Smash veteran, having competed since 2009 in Melee, Brawl, Smash4, and now Ultimate.
I’ve beaten many top level players in Smash4, including:
Ixis (#3 EU)
S1 (#5 EU)
Purple~H (#7 EU)
iStudying (#10 EU)
Supahsemmie (#13 EU)
Meru (#18 EU)
Homika (#26 EU, #2 FR)
Peli (#33 EU, #6 UK)
AfroSmash (#37 EU, #3 UK)
That said, I specialize in theory. I’ve graduated at the BUAS in the Netherlands, one of the premier game development educations in Europe (globally top 10 ranked programme). I graduated with a thesis on combat system design, specializing in fighting game design.
I’m proud to say that my students all make giant strides; those that went from 0-2 to making it out of pools, as well as those that went from achieving top16s to achieving top8s at nationals. As such, all skill levels are welcome!
As a player who started at the bottom and climbed high up, I’ve experienced the struggles of improving first hand. I also regularly apply my game knowledge as one of the premier commentators in Europe. At this point I’ve coached players from all ranges of skill levels, from players beginning their competitive journey to those looking to break through to that top level, or even hold on to it. I’m proud to say that my students all make giant strides; those that went from 0-2 to making it out of pools, as well as those that went from achieving top16s to achieving top8s at nationals. As such, all skill levels are welcome!
Every mainstream competitive domain has coaches, and when you start these competitive journeys you start off with a coach – and I believe esports should follow suit. The coach is a mentor that guides you through the steps, constantly lifting you to the next level. They say ‘practice is applied theory’ and this is where the coach shines – they analyze you, and based on their observations will offer concrete goals and new perspectives. These prevent you from plateauing and help you improve efficiently.
My coaching is personal, because improvement is personal. Everyone has a unique set of circumstances and my goal is to understand you and your thinking as quickly as possible. Once I understand how you think, we can dissect your thought patterns and reconstruct them in improved ways, which will immediately lead into results.
My coaching is based on the science of expertise. Expertise is a field of research that specializes in researching how experts attain their expert status, pioneered by K. Anders Ericsson. I will help you understand the necessary scientific concepts to get better at improving. I combine these teachings with my own experience and lessons from martial arts which apply one-to-one to fighting games. The key aspect of my coaching is perspectives – I will constantly offer you new ways to think about the game, which is the key to improving.
I am goal oriented, empathic, methodical, thorough, concrete, and detail-minded yet aware of the bigger picture.
Cancellation/Rescheduling Refund Policy
The Ramses Esports refund policy keeps in mind the Loss of Opportunity that comes with cancellations.
As such, cancelling an appointment a month in advance is cost free. Any later, and a cancellation will entitle the customer to a refund worth 50% of the session’s costs.
The same paradigm holds for moving an appointment. A month in advance, you’re free to move without costs. Should an appointment be moved later than that, then I will request an additional 25% of the session’s costs.
Showing up to a session without the requested resources means I will ask whether you want to cancel or move the appointment. This means a lack of a working internet connection when selecting Play Games or a lack of VODs when selecting Vod Review.
A no-show will be treated as a cancellation without opportunity for refunds.
